In Phase 4, no new graphemes are introduced. The main aim of this phase is to consolidate the children's knowledge and to help them learn to read and spell words which have adjacent consonants, such as trap, string and milk.
In the documents section there are two stories. One is related to the blend of sounds that we have learned today in Phonics, the other is some extra reading containing the blend.
Writing + Art and Design
You are going to be an author and make your own book inside your scrapbook. Adults can you find the next blank right hand page of your child’s home learning scrapbook for your child (like the front cover of the book). Together you can think of a name of the story that you drew pictures for yesterday. Have a go at writing this as the title in the middle of the page, then “By *your name*” to show that you are the author.
Decorate the rest of the page with drawings to show what your book is about.
(Adults, please can you make sure the children do not stick anything 3D onto their page as this makes it difficult to write in the book later. Can you also make sure that the next 2-3 pages are left blank until the book has been written? These pages can be filled in when the book is finished to ensure less wastage.)
