Phonics

In Phase 4, no new graphemes are introduced. The main aim of this phase is to consolidate the children's knowledge and to help them learn to read and spell words which have adjacent consonants, such as trap, string and milk.

Reading
In the documents section there are two stories. One is related to the blend of sounds that we have learned today in Phonics, the other is some extra reading containing the blend.

Writing
This week we are focussing on letter names (e.g. b is “bee”, c is “see”). As a starter, can you write the lower-case alphabet on some paper. Sing the alphabet song, pointing to each letter as you say the letter name.

Can the adult write the lower-case letters below on individual paper squares. Say sound (touching ear) and name (touching head). Then mix up cards and get chn to point to *letter name* while tapping their head.

Chilli Challenge: Write one sentence about what you have done today.

Communication and Language
Go into your garden or to a park and discuss the plants that are growing. What do they need to grow, what might live on the plants etc. You could even use your planted potatoes from the maths lesson previously to observe the shoots.
