In Phase 4, no new graphemes are introduced. The main aim of this phase is to consolidate the children's knowledge and to help them learn to read and spell words which have adjacent consonants, such as trap, string and milk.
In the documents section there are two stories. One is related to the blend of sounds that we have learned today in Phonics, the other is some extra reading containing the blend.
Write one sentence about what you have done today.
Adults: Can you write the letters b, n, d, m, i, j, p, qu on a line and put this in front of your child. Then can you read out these words and get your child to write down the first sound they can hear in the word:
Chilli Challenge: Instead of just writing the first sound, can you write the whole word?
